Crynodeb

In December 2021 Baroness Heather Hallett, a retired Appeal Court judge, was appointed by the Prime Minister as Chair of the independent public inquiry into the Covid-19 pandemic.

The UK Covid-19 Inquiry was formally established with full powers under the Inquiries Act 2005 in June 2022. The Inquiry sits independently of the Government with the Cabinet Office acting as the sponsoring department.

Following an initial set up phase the Inquiry began hearing evidence in May 2023. Our team is working to examine the UK’s response to and impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, and learn lessons for the future. The Inquiry’s work is guided by its Terms of Reference. We are a values driven organisation, and we aim to put our values of fairness, openness, compassion and inclusion at the heart of everything we do.

This is an exciting role, offering the opportunity to be part of an innovative team, and to help deliver a public inquiry that is unprecedented in terms of scope and depth.

Further information about the Inquiry can be found on the UK Covid-19 Inquiry website.

The Digital Delivery Officer sits in the Web Delivery team, part of the Human Impact, Communications & Engagement Directorate.

This is an exciting opportunity to join an inclusive, innovative team where you will be supported to challenge yourself in often ambiguous circumstances. The team encourages working in a flexible, collaborative manner to learn and support each other as we look to undertake one of the broadest, most publicly anticipated inquiries in UK history.

Working at pace, resilience is key both in managing competing deadlines and working with emotionally challenging content. For the right candidate, this is a once-in-a-career role where you will be supported to reach your potential while delivering for the public good through this historic inquiry.

The successful candidate will support the Head of Web Delivery to deliver web projects, data analysis and user-centered design and testing on our digital products. The role is varied and you could be providing administrative and budget support, liaising with suppliers to deliver website upgrades, testing new features with users, and helping to organise reporting or liaison with experts across the Inquiry.

Some of the key responsibilities include and are not limited to:

  • Support the delivery of digital projects and content updates through proactive engagement with the Head of Web Delivery, internal Inquiry colleagues and external suppliers
  • Support the publication of evidence and the Inquiry’s module reports
  • Conduct research exercises to support the development of the website as user needs change over time, ensuring the stability and sustainability of the website as a platform for information sharing
  • Conduct user and usability testing on new digital projects to uncover problems early, better understand users and identify future opportunities
  • Drive innovation in the areas of data utilisation and AI to support the delivery of the Inquiry and the legacy of Every Story Matters
  • Deliver workshops and training to colleagues across the Inquiry acting as an advocate for the website, internal processes and best practice digital standards
