An exciting position has arisen to join the Yorkshire Ambulance Service as a Fleet Logistics Assistant/ Driver This position is a full-time permanent roll based on a 4 on 4 off shift within the Fleet Department.


As a Fleet Logistics Assistant, you will be working as part of the Fleet, Estates and Facilities Team and directorate supporting the transportation, movement and care of operational and non-operation vehicles for maintenance, repair and staffing requirements.


This is primarily a driving role and will require the applicant to have a C1 driving licence.


This is an integral support role which provides an essential service for the department and Trust.


The applicant should be experienced in driving a variety of vehicles across the county, as the role requires the candidate to carry out both local and county wide driving task.

The post holder will be required to perform duties associated with the provision of a logistics function for Operational and Non-Operational Vehicles and associated Medical Devices within the Trust, providing a safe and effective service.


Post holders will provide a high standard of service delivery in relation to the collection and delivery of vehicles, vehicle parts, medical devices and any other such items deemed necessary under the management of the Fleet Department.


The post holder will be responsible for ensuring vehicles are fuelled, and that all vehicle daily checks are completed on all vehicle movements.
The post holder will be required to work with minimum supervision, flexibly across a large geographical area and use initiative in problem solving.


The post holder will be responsible for maintaining cleanliness of the vehicle workshop facilities (mess rooms, working bays, toilets and all office areas). Ensuring that workshops sites, interior and exterior are clean to make a safe working environment in line with relevant legislations. Ensures that tools and equipment are kept clean, in good working order and stored appropriately.

They will become competent in assisting with ad hoc light vehicle maintenance with the appropriate training from a technical lead. This will include the fitting a fast part such as bulbs and wipers. Topping up vehicles with the appropriate oils and lubricants. Jump starting vehicles, towing. Assisting with vehicle commissioning and decommissioning and internal vehicle audits.


They will also assist workshop technical staff with appropriate support as and when required, for example lifting / supporting in jobs that may require manual assistance.

The post holder will also assist in preventative maintenance in the reporting of any accident damage found on any vehicles immediately.
Primary duties will be compliance with all relevant SOP’s, controls and standards, both national and Trust specific.
