We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in Pembrokeshire to assist with the appointment of a Security Guard, on a 3-month contract, highly likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.
Rate of Pay: £12.50 - £15.68 per hour
Summary:
Pembrokeshire County Council is seeking a dedicated and vigilant Security Guard to ensure the safety and security of our library premises, staff, and visitors. The successful candidate will work within the Facilities & Environment team to maintain a secure and welcoming environment, prevent unauthorized access, and respond to incidents as required. This role requires a professional presence, excellent communication skills, and the ability to manage situations calmly and effectively.
Responsibilities:
Patrol and monitor library premises during operating hours and after closing.
Control access to the library, ensuring only authorized persons are allowed entry.
Prevent and respond to incidents such as theft, vandalism, anti-social behavior, and emergencies.
Assist library staff in dealing with difficult or disruptive individuals.
Monitor CCTV systems and report any suspicious behavior or security breaches.
Requirements:
Valid SIA (Security Industry Authority) licence essential.
GCSEs (or equivalent) including English and Maths desirable.
First Aid certification desirable.
Fire Safety and Conflict Management training desirable.
Knowledge of security systems and procedures, including CCTV and alarm operations.
Experience:
Previous experience in a security or facilities role, preferably in a public-facing environment such as a library, council office, or similar.
Experience handling difficult situations calmly and effectively.
Experience writing clear and concise incident reports.
