About our Pharmacy Service

An opportunity has arisen for the right candidates to contribute to our team in providing a high quality and respected clinical pharmacy service as a Senior Rotational Pharmacist.

You will be based at Colchester Hospital, spending a significant proportion of time working clinically at ward level in the Emergency Admissions, Care-of-the-Elderly/Frailty, Community Services, Women and Child Health, Critical Care and Antimicrobial Stewardship.

Being a key member of the multidisciplinary team you will be expected to fully integrate within the clinical environment providing a patient centred approach to medicines management/optimisation.

Weekend working and on-call will be required for this role.

Please also note that this vacancy may close prior to the advertised closing date so an early application is recommended.

Assisting the department in providing a comprehensive clinical pharmacy service to patients within East Suffolk and North Essex NHS Foundation Trust (ESNEFT).

Work closely with senior colleagues and clinical technicians to ensure the provision of an integrated and efficient clinical service.

Clinical practice will be centred through rotations in Emergency Admissions, Care-of-the-Elderly/Frailty, Community Services and Women’s and Childs Health at the Colchester Hospital site. This will also include some oversight/awareness of pharmacy services to the wards at Harwich and Clacton hospitals (longer stay and rehabilitation areas).

If not already achieved, it is expected that you will undertake the postgraduate education offered by the department e.g. Postgraduate Diploma in General Pharmacy Practice.

Further support will be offered to help facilitate progression to becoming an Independent Prescriber.

You will also receive training deemed necessary for each specialist rotation.

Work clinically at ward level; although it is an expectation that you will also support other clinical colleagues within the department as the holistic service requires.
