We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in Vale of Glamorgan to assist with the appointment of a Driver - Environment & Housing, on a 4-month contract, highly likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.

Summary:

The Vale of Glamorgan Council is seeking a reliable and professional Driver to join the Environment & Housing team within the Operational & Support Services division. This role involves the safe and efficient transportation of personnel, equipment, and materials as required by service demands. The ideal candidate will play a vital part in supporting daily operations that contribute to environmental services and housing functions, ensuring community services are delivered effectively and on time.

Responsibilities:

Operate Council vehicles in a safe, efficient, and courteous manner in line with road traffic laws and Council procedures.
Transport staff, tools, equipment, refuse, or other items related to Environment & Housing services.
Conduct daily vehicle checks, maintain cleanliness and report any defects promptly.
Assist with loading and unloading items, ensuring secure transportation.
Complete route sheets, vehicle logs, and basic paperwork as required.
Requirements:

Full, clean UK driving licence Category B essential; Category C1/C (LGV) desirable.
Driver CPC (Certificate of Professional Competence) preferred for LGV roles.
Basic literacy and numeracy skills (GCSE level or equivalent desirable).
Proven experience in a similar driving or logistics role, preferably within a local authority or public service setting.
Familiarity with vehicle checks, defect reporting, and basic record-keeping.
Experience in working in a team-based operational environment.
Knowledge of safe manual handling techniques and workplace health and safety.
