3 YEARS OF PERM EXPERIENCE WORKING DIRECTLY WITH LOCAL AUTHORITIES IN
ENGLAND IS COMPULSORY AND MUST BE IDENTIFIED ON THE CV.
We are seeking experienced social workers to work as part of our Family Safeguarding
Service, with the specific role of completing social work assessments and undertaking
Section 47 enquiries on new referrals progressed from our children’s Front Door.
Our Family Safeguarding Service is a friendly, supportive team made up of Social
Workers, Advanced Practitioners, Child Practitioners, Drug and Alcohol Workers,
Probation Officers, Domestic Abuse Workers, and Mental Health Practitioners, all
striving to make a difference and achieve the best outcomes for our children.
Family Safeguarding is a whole family approach to working with children and families
that supports parents to create sustained change for themselves and for their
family. Together in Dudley, we believe every family has a right to help and support for
their children and our Family Safeguarding Programme supports Practitioners to
creatively support families to recognise their strengths and be supported to overcome
their difficulties.
As part of our Family Safeguarding Service, we have a small number of social work
posts where the focus is on working with families when they are newly referred from our
children’s Front Door. These practitioners undertake social work assessments and
Section 47 enquiries, working alongside families to understand needs and risks and
identifying the most appropriate plan of support for the child and family. We know
families are the experts in their own lives and it is important we listen to them and
understand their needs. We work with them to understand their circumstances and
identify a family plan that will help keep families together and support them to build on
their own strengths and relationships to be the best they can be.
A key part of the role involves close collaboration with our Targeted Early Help service
and with partner agencies within the family’s community, including our Family Hubs.
Should assessments indicate that ongoing social worker support is required, families
will be transferred to our Family Safeguarding social work teams who will continue to
work alongside the family with the family’s plan.
We are looking for practitioners with strong assessment skills with confidence in
undertaking Section 47 enquiries. Applicants must have a minimum of three years’
post-qualifying experience and be proficient in producing clear, evidence-based
assessments work.
