Employment Type: Permanent
Working Hours: 4 days per week (32 hours) Monday to Thursday

About Us
Mires Beck Nursery is a registered charity dedicated to providing horticultural work experience and training for adults with learning difficulties or disabilities. Established in 1984 and operating as a charity since 1994, our nursery offers a supportive and structured environment that helps individuals develop confidence, skills, and self-worth through meaningful work.
We are located on the outskirts of North Cave, set in a beautiful natural landscape where we grow and supply a wide variety of plants, wildflowers and trees.
The Role
We are seeking a Wildflowers Supervisor to join our dedicated team. Reporting to the Head of Habitats, you will oversee the horticultural production and development of our wildflowers area, while supporting our service users in their work and personal growth.
Key Responsibilities
Wildflowers Production
• Follow and implement horticultural production programmes
• Maintain high standards of plant health, presentation, and tidiness in the wildflowers area.
• Assist in collecting wildflower seed to maintain our seed bank.
• Prepare plant orders for customers and assist with stock taking.
• Provide customer support and advice as required.
• Support tree grading work with the wider Habitats team during the winter months.
Service User Support
• Supervise and instruct groups of service users in horticultural activities.
• Promote independence, pride, and skill development among service users.
• Maintain up-to-date personal profiles and conduct regular reviews.
• Support service users’ well-being, including personal care if needed.
• Ensure a safe working environment through adherence to health and safety procedures.
Team Leadership
• Lead and support the Wildflowers Team Leader, Support Workers, and Volunteers.
• Conduct performance reviews and encourage staff and volunteer development.
• Attend relevant meetings and ensure effective communication within your team.
• Participate in training to enhance your skills and knowledge related to wildflowers and service user care.
What We’re Looking For
• Experience in horticulture, ideally with wildflowers or native plants.
• A passion for working with people with learning difficulties or disabilities.
• Leadership and organisational skills.
• A commitment to inclusion, empathy, and positive support practices.
• Flexibility, enthusiasm, and a hands-on approach.
• Knowledge of health and safety practices in a horticultural or care environment.
