We’re part of the UK’s biggest government department, administering a range of pensions, working age, disability, and ill health benefits to around 22 million claimants and customers. People who use our services are among some of the most vulnerable in our society.
The Product Manager is an important role with responsibility for setting priorities, making decisions and working closely with stakeholders for services that meet the needs of the end user. Ultimately you are responsible for delivering value for your users and the Department.
You will join as a Product Manager on one of our teams within:
- Within bereavement and care, focussing on those who need help at a difficult and sensitive time in their lives.
- Health and Disability, providing support to the 16 million people in the UK who have a health condition or disability.
- The Hybrid Cloud Services (HCS) Tooling function which develops, manages and supports products used by engineering teams across the DWP Digital community to help underpin and deliver DWP’s services. These include, Source Code Management, Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery, Engineering experience tooling, automation tooling, media and package storage, secure operating systems and agile project management software.
- DWP Analytics, within the Data & Analytics Directorate, is a team responsible for the development of reusable technical capability that underpins the development and deployment of analytics driven controls which support benefit payment accuracy, and ambitions to reduce fraud, error and debt.
We are looking for a Product Manager who will be responsible for making evidenced based strategic and tactical product decisions and making key priority calls.
You will be actively involved in developing the product strategy, owning the product roadmap and communicating product success to stakeholders but also defend controversial decisions about your product. You will also use your experience of product management techniques to ensure the team are working towards the right goals at the right time.
While you will work independently, you’ll also be part of a product community within the portfolio and there may be line management responsibility.
Additionally, you’ll be a part of our DWP Digital Product Community of Practice, where Product Managers across come together to share learning, discuss their development needs, gain support and solve for common problems.
