General Operative / Driver who has a good work ethic with the ability to work as part of a team and turn their hand to different roles within the business is required for a precision engineering company that supply the aerospace industry based in Esher, Surrey.
SALARY: £26,364 - £32,448 per annum (£13 - £16 per Hour) (Depending on Experience) + Overtime
LOCATION: Esher, Surrey
JOB TYPE: Full-Time, Permanent
WORKING HOURS: 39 Hours per Week, 8am-5pm Monday to Thursday and 8am – 1pm Friday
JOB OVERVIEW
We have a fantastic new job opportunity for a General Operative / Driver who has a good work ethic with the ability to work as part of a team and turn their hand to different roles within the business.
Working as the General Operative / Driver your role will be varied and responsibilities include loading and unloading vehicles, packing parts for shipment, delivering goods to customers and suppliers, cleaning the premises, carrying out basic building maintenance and working on the engineering / manufacturing floor machining materials.
As the General Operative / Driver you will need a high attention to detail and care as you will be handling high value precision components. You will also need to work with a sense of urgency and efficiency as you’ll be often working to tight deadlines.

DUTIES
Your duties as the General Operative / Driver include:
Goods Inwards and dispatch
• Assisting drivers with loading and unloading of vehicles as required, use of stacker truck
• Unpacking and counting of goods received, checking goods against paperwork
• Booking in goods using MRP software on the PC
• Packing parts for shipment by carrier to customers and suppliers
• Labelling and storing raw material
• Keeping the wrapping & packing area clean and tidy
Driving the company van to customers and suppliers as directed
• Ensuring goods do not become damaged in transit
• Presenting a positive image of the company when out, including appearance and driving standards
• Keeping the van in a clean and roadworthy condition
Cleaning all areas of the premises, inside and out
• Offices, desks, work tops, ledges etc
• Floors throughout the building using broom, mop, vacuum and floor wash machine
• Emptying bins and ensuring all waste is stored safely and tidily
• Toilets & wash basins
• Removing swarf from machines as required
• Ensuring waste is available for collection and assisting as required
• Sweeping yard
Maintenance
• Carrying out basic building maintenance, e.g. fixing things to wall, changing lightbulbs, assembling furniture / racking
• Carrying out basic machine maintenance, e.g. draining and replacing oils, replacing hoses, fitting accessories
• Assisting with movement of machines and accessories
Machining
• Sawing materials to the required size on the power saw
• Occasionally running a CNC machine under supervision
• Assisting with inspection, mainly high-volume batches under supervision
CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS
• Physically fit as some heavy lifting and long periods of standing are required.
• Must be able to read, write and speak English
• Able to use computer software, (training provided)
• Full clean driving licence
DESIRABLE
• Experience of an ISO9001:2015 or AS9100D environment would be an advantage
