gap personnel are recruiting for Cleaning Operatives in Exeter, Devon. Full UK driving licence is essential for this role.
Looking for outdoor work where you stay active and make a real difference? Join our street cleaning and grounds maintenance team in Exeter and help keep public spaces, parks, and streets clean, tidy, and safe.
This hands-on operative role is perfect for people who enjoy working outdoors, have a practical mindset, and take pride in keeping the local community looking its best.

Key duties and responsibilities
-Street cleaning, litter picking, and emptying bins across public areas, parks, and city streets
-Grounds maintenance including removing graffiti, clearing weeds, and basic landscaping tasks
-Refuse and waste collection from public bins and busy areas
-Cleaning and maintaining public toilets and car parks
-Reporting fly-tipping, damaged signs, overflowing bins, and other hazards
-Seasonal grounds support like hedge cutting, tree maintenance, and mechanical sweeping
What we’re looking for
-Full UK driving licence (essential)
-Willingness to work outdoors in all weather
-Strong work ethic, reliability, and a proactive, can-do attitude
-Attention to detail and pride in maintaining high standards
-Comfortable working alone and as part of a team
-Previous experience in cleaning, grounds maintenance, refuse collection, facilities, or similar outdoor work is an advantage but not essential
Working hours
-Start early (between 05:00–07:00) and finish early (usually by 13:00–18:00)
-5 days per week on a rota, including some weekend shifts
