Dumfries and Galloway College is in Southwest Scotland, the gateway to three countries – England, Scotland and Northern Ireland. Our campus sites in Dumfries and Stranraer reflect the commitment of the College in serving the needs of the whole region.

We are an award-winning college and have been recognised for the development and delivery of skills across the region. Through our last Strategic plan, we have successfully improved our Key Performance Indictors in student success and satisfaction above national averages. We have also had a range of successful scrutiny visits culminating in our most recent HMI inspection leaving no actions for improvement. We are a College looking to be one step ahead and are seeking a talented and innovate individual to join our senior leadership team to help drive continued success.

What’s the Job?
We’re looking for a dynamic and talented Director of Learning and Teaching to drive forward the strategic aims, objectives, and targets of the College. In alignment with our Mission 2030 Strategy, you will play a key role in securing and enhancing our reputation as one of Scotland’s top-performing colleges.

This is a strategic leadership role focused on enhancing curriculum quality and academic delivery. You’ll lead innovation, ensure regulatory alignment, foster collaboration, and champion a responsive and proactive student experience.

Who we’re looking for
We’re seeking an experienced educational leader with a strong background in curriculum development, teaching innovation, and quality enhancement.

You will be:

• A strategic thinker who can inspire and lead academic and support teams
• Proficient in using data and performance metrics to drive continuous
improvement
• Experienced in managing complex projects and resources across departments
• Skilled at building strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders
• Effective at leading change, influencing others, and navigating a dynamic
educational environment
• Committed to equity, inclusion, and fostering a positive, collaborative culture

To Succeed in This Role, You Will Have:

• Extensive leadership experience within the education sector
• A proven track record of leading curriculum transformation and delivering
measurable outcomes
• A degree at SCQF Level 10 or above, and a teaching qualification in Further
Education (SCQF Level 9 or above)
• Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder engagement skills
• Strong digital proficiency, including MS Office and educational technologies
• commitment to ongoing professional development in leadership and curriculum
• Adaptability to emerging digital trends and a willingness to enhance digital
competencies
• A passion for innovation in learning, teaching, and assessment to improve
student outcomes and access

This role will have substantial campus-based activities as dictated by college business however hybrid working arrangements will be considered.
