We have an exciting opportunity for an individual to join our Liverpool FC team as a Pre-Academy Goalkeeper Coordinator on a casual basis.
You will create a high-energy, inclusive goalkeeping environment for Pre-Academy players (U6–U8), supporting learning through play, enjoyment and movement.The role focuses less on technical instruction and more on how young players explore, connect and develop through engaging experiences.Builds trust with families while identifying and preparing young goalkeepers for a confident transition into the Foundation Phase.
What will you be doing?
Lead the Coaching & Development of Pre-Academy Goalkeepers
Leads the training and development of U6–U8 goalkeepers within the Pre-Academy, delivering engaging, age-appropriate sessions that align with Liverpool FC’s coaching philosophy.Ensures a high-energy, play-based learning environment where goalkeepers build fundamental skills, confidence, and enthusiasm for the position — preparing them for a smooth transition into the Foundation Phase.
Drive the Pre-Academy Goalkeeper Recruitment & Talent Identification Strategy
Oversees the identification and recruitment of young goalkeeping talent at grassroots level, working closely with recruitment and scouting teams to track and evaluate potential academy goalkeepers.Leads key talent ID initiatives, including Development Centres and half-term events, ensuring the most promising players are identified and supported over time.
Build Strong Relationships with Parents & Players
Acts as the main point of contact for Pre-Academy goalkeepers and their families, ensuring clear communication around training, development, and expectations. Builds strong parent relationships to create a positive, connected experience throughout the Pre-Academy journey.
Ensure Seamless Transition into the Foundation Phase
Manages the transition process for U8 goalkeepers moving into the U9 Foundation Phase, collaborating with Foundation Phase GK Coaches to provide structured handover reports.Ensures players are confident and developmentally ready, supported by evidence-based observations and clear recommendations.
Implement & Adapt Goalkeeping Curriculum for Pre-Academy
Works with the Academy Goalkeeping Lead (U6–U16) and Head of Pre-Academy to deliver a flexible, age-appropriate curriculum.Sessions align with Liverpool FC’s long-term development model while allowing space for play-based learning, individual needs and recruitment-driven coaching.
Operational & Administrative Responsibilities
Manages essential operational tasks, including session invites, registers, and tracking player progress through internal systems. Supports recruitment and scouting workflows with efficient, consistent reporting that tracks long-term development.
Who are we looking for?
To be successful in this role, you will be a confident and passionate coach who thrives in creating a high-energy, inclusive environment for children aged 5–8.You’ll bring a strong understanding of age-specific sport development, movement skills, and physical literacy, with an ability to identify athletic potential beyond just goalkeeping technique.You’re a warm and clear communicator who builds trust with parents, and you’re organised and reliable when it comes to handling basic admin tasks like invites, registers, and tracking.You will have a commitment to ongoing professional development and you’ll be supported by the Academy to grow within your role.
Desirable experience includes working with young children in sport settings (e.g.PE, grassroots, multi-sport coaching), a background in goalkeeping (playing or coaching), and prior involvement in identifying or nurturing early-stage athletic talent.
Essential Qualifications
- UEFA C Licence (Outfield) or equivalent
- FA Safeguarding and First Aid qualification
- (Desirable) National Goalkeeping Award
- (Desirable) FA Youth Award
