The Opportunity
An exciting opportunity has become available for a Junior Project Manager to assist in the operational and commercial discussions for planning and execution of our projects. You will work as part of a team to deliver turnkey technical solutions to our clients across a wide range of business units including nuclear and defence sectors.

The role
As a Junior Project Manager, you will be involved in tendering activities, and pre-contract award through planning and execution of projects. In this role, you will support the Project Manager in ensuring projects are completed on time and within budgets following the processes set out in the client’s quality and health and safety management systems.

Your duties and responsibilities will be

- Support the Project Manager in the development of, monitoring and reporting on progress.
- Manage and implement the quality process in accordance with the Project Quality Plan, with a particular emphasis on defect avoidance and zero defects at completion.
- Establish effective communication across the project along with client and stakeholder teams
- Be proactive in controlling project costs and provide detailed reports on variances against weekly forecasts.
- Identify risks and opportunities, both technical and commercial, and take account of these in developing a strategy for successful project delivery.
- Manage and monitor the progress of work against realistic programme milestones and advise on measures to mitigate delay as necessary.
- Be responsible for contractual matters relating to the Contract and Subcontracts, for raising the necessary correspondence, change management and for record keeping.
- Liaise with third parties as necessary.
- Project delivery – ensure that all aspects of the ‘Project Process’ are followed so that each project is delivered on time, on budget and to a high safety standard. Ensure the highest standard of quality and deliverables during all phases from start-up to closure.
- Project cost control – proactively manage the financials of each project to maximise profitability and give early warnings/use a proactive approach when any elements of the project appear to be off track.
- Client relationships – ensure proactive relationships are maintained and cultivated with clients.

You will have the following qualifications & experience

- NEC 3 / 4 awareness
- Understanding of core project management processes such as project preparation, quality, project structures, planning, risk management, contracts, costs & finance, project execution, leadership, teamwork & communication.
- Be studying towards or has completed Professional certifications such as Prince 2, PMP, or APM, or have a minimum of 1 year’s demonstrable industry experience of working within a Prince2 environment.
- Proficiency in project management methodologies, tools, and software, including but not exclusively Microsoft Project or Primavera P6 experience.
- Able to learn new techniques and procedures quickly and ensure quality and attention to detail standards remain high.
- Able to solve ad-hoc problems quickly with clearly defined solutions.
- Bachelor's degree in a related business or technical discipline
- Solid leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire project teams.
- High level of drive, self-motivation and self-management ability.
- Proactive and effective planning skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, with attention to detail.
- Knowledge of quality assurance processes and experience with relevant standards and how to apply them in a real-world environment.
- Experience of robust financial project management and reporting.
- Security clearance, or the ability to obtain one, as required for working on regulated industry projects.
