Summary

Are you calm, caring, and keen to make a lasting difference to students with speech, language and communication needs (SLCN)?

We are proud to be supporting a high-performing, inclusive secondary school in Winchester. The school is looking to appoint a Learning Support Practitioner specialising in Speech and Language for a full-time, permanent role starting this September.

This is a rewarding opportunity to work closely with young people, helping them to build confidence, communicate effectively, and access learning with the support they need to thrive.

About the Role:
- Work closely with students who have SLCN, both in the classroom and through targeted interventions
- Plan and deliver 1:1 or small group sessions to support individual development
- Act as a key worker for a small number of students with more complex needs
- Liaise with staff, families, and external professionals to ensure a joined-up approach to support
- Contribute to the wider SEND team, sharing strategies and learning
- Receive ongoing CPD and the opportunity to grow your skills in a nurturing school environment

Who We're Looking For:
- Calm, adaptable and empathetic individuals with a genuine commitment to inclusive education
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to adapt your approach to meet each student's needs
- Resilience, teamwork, and a positive attitude are essential
- Previous experience with young people, SEND, or communication-based roles is an advantage-but not essential
- Minimum qualifications: GCSE English and Maths (or equivalent)
- A strong desire to learn and support others, with the ability to build trusting relationships with pupils

What the School Offers:
- A welcoming and collaborative SEND department
- Purposeful work supporting students who truly benefit from the right guidance
- Regular opportunities for training and progression
- A school rated highly by Ofsted, where students feel safe and supported
- A role that could suit someone exploring a future in teaching or speech therapy
