FJA are working with a national leader in the Water industry, who are looking to recruit a Senior Health and Safety Advisor. The Senior H&S Advisor will play an integral part of the SHEQ team based in the Leicester area. The role is a permanent full-time position.

As a Senior Health and Safety Advisor, your role will be pivotal in ensuring that robust health and safety standards are consistently implemented across their high-profile construction sites which cover complex civil engineering, mechanical, electrical and commissioning works.
You will report directly to the Health and Safety Manager and the responsibilities will include:
• Understanding our approach to managing SHEQ risk and delivering best in class performance at a Senior Level.
• Champion a proactive safety culture, engaging with contractors, subcontractors, and all key stakeholders.
• Maintaining a dynamic and driven approach to supporting SHEQ across the company.
• Facilitating the development and implementation of policies, procedures, management systems and risk controls, which will help reduce risk and support a positive SHEQ culture
• Work closely with the project director, construction teams, contractors and external bodies to integrate health and safety into the project workflow
• Organising audits and supporting the delivery and execution of SHEQ assurance audits.
• Conducting accident/incident investigations and/or supporting investigations conducted by the Head of SHEQ.
• Integrating within the wider project teams to understand day to day challenges.
• Working with our client to deliver collaborative approaches to SHEQ.
• Exposure to the project management lifecycle of project delivery.
• Highlighting opportunity for sustainable solutions.
• Trending and analysis of key performance data.
• Maintenance of our externally certified management systems.
Required experience for the Senior Health and Safety Advisor:
• Proven experience in managing health and safety on complex construction sites, including multi-disciplinary teams and subcontractors with a key focus on both client and construction partner relationships
• Ability to collect, analyse and evaluate large volumes of data whilst maintaining data integrity.
• Ability to identify trends in data and clearly articulate the issue or findings.
• Proven experience of working as part of a SHEQ team.
• Ability to interpret legislation and Approved codes of Practise.
• Good organisational and time management skills.
• Ability to work both as a team member and under own initiative.
• Good communicator who’s comfortable engaging at all levels within the organisation as you will be advising the team at a senior level.
• Confidence to make decisions whilst recognising when appropriate to escalate issues or concerns.
• Good Microsoft Office skills especially Visio, Excel and PowerPoint.
• Flexible approach to work in terms of both time and location.
