Location: Edinburgh, EH12 9BH
Hours of work: 40
Contract Type: Permanent
We are looking for a proactive and organised Project Engineer to support the delivery of a range of projects at a prestigious client site in Gogarburn, Edinburgh.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone looking to further develop their experience, with strong potential for progression into leadership-focused roles.
Job Description
In this role, you will assist in the implementation, delivery, documentation, handover and warranty management of multiple projects, ensuring they are completed on time, to budget, and in line with client and business expectations.
You will be responsible for maintaining high standards of health and safety, ensuring all work complies with statutory requirements and ISS procedures. You’ll also oversee the implementation of ISS Safe Systems of Work (SSOW), including the preparation and management of all relevant project permits.
This position is ideal for an ambitious engineer looking to build their career with a forward-thinking business and gain valuable experience on a key account.
Key Responsibilities
Act as site custodian, overseeing and coordinating subcontractors and client engineering teams.
Write and manage permits, including electrical isolations and safe systems of work.
Gatekeep and monitor on-site activities to ensure safety, compliance, and quality.
Oversee major works such as LV/switchgear replacements, generators, chillers, and refurbishments.
Carry out light hands-on tasks, but primarily supervise and manage contractor activities.
Escort contractors and ensure they meet ISS and client expectations.
Requires a resilient, assertive character to police works and maintain site standards.
Professional and Personal Competencies/Qualifications
Strong electrical background preferred, ideally with LV/HV knowledge; AP status is a plus (can be trained).
Experience in project engineering or critical site maintenance roles is highly desirable.
Hands-on understanding of permits, isolations, and contractor supervision.
Assertive and resilient character – must be confident managing and challenging subcontractors.
Growth potential – someone ambitious, reliable, and eager to develop within the team.
Comfortable in a supervisory or caretaker role with some light tool work.
Critical environment experience is advantageous.
