What skills and experience we're looking for

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist in the implementation and running of programs aimed at promoting pupil progress and social development.
• Provide support for individual students, especially those transitioning to secondary education.
• Support differentiation of teaching and learning.
• Work with other professionals as necessary.
• Support students with emotional or behavioral problems and help develop their social/emotional skills.
• Keep records of support/intervention strategies and assist in monitoring student progress.

Administrative Duties:

• Support class teachers in differentiation and other tasks.
• Track pupil progress data.
• Undertake other duties as required by the head teacher.

Standards and Quality Assurance:

• Support the aims and ethos of the school.
• Set a good example in terms of dress, punctuality, and attendance.
• Attend team and staff meetings.
• Be proactive in health and safety matters.
• Commit to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.

Person Specification:

• Ability to support the effective inclusion of individual children and small groups.
• Understanding of child development and learning processes.
• Ability to relate well to children and adults.
• Empathy and understanding for children with social, emotional, and mental health needs.
• Good literacy and numeracy skills.

Experience (Advantageous but not required):

• Experience working with students below age expectations.
• Knowledge of the Primary School curriculum or experience in a Special School setting.
• Supporting children with Special Educational Needs or behavioral needs.

Job Title: Learning Support Assistant (LSA)

Location: Aldridge School, part of The Mercian Trust

Role Overview: The Learning Support Assistant (LSA) will assist in the educational and social development of students, particularly those with special educational needs. The LSA will work under the direction of the head teacher, SENCO, and PLC manager to support individual students both inside and outside the classroom, promoting their inclusion and progress.
