This role is a 6 month fixed term contract post.

We have an exciting opportunity for a Domestic Abuse Practitioner Worker, with experience of working with families and young people, to support the work of our Family Safeguarding Service. The Family Safeguarding model, which brings together professionals to provide intensive support to parents to address the substance misuse, mental health and domestic abuse that place children at risk of harm. You will be joining a forward-thinking service that puts the outcomes of children at the heart of all we do.

We are looking for candidates who want the opportunity to provide first class support to the team and develop their career in the Safeguarding Service. You will join a team that is composed of children’s social workers, child and family support workers, substance misuse worker, assessing risk and take decisions about integrated treatment programmes together.

You will be involved in working with victims of domestic violence, having access to specialist resources and tools to engage positively with families, in order to bring about change in their daily lives. You will be responsible for undertaking direct work, working closely with other professionals, and liaison with partner agencies. You will also contribute towards providing support and safety planning as well as making home visits to service users.

The role is challenging, interesting and varied with no two days being the same. You will therefore need to be highly motivated and able to work on your own initiative, having some knowledge of safeguarding procedures and legislation pertaining to children and families. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills will be essential to support the team. This is an excellent opportunity to really make a difference to the lives of children and young people.

This is a temporary position and a great opportunity for a secondment placement.
