Hybrid Working - Stopford House office base with requirement to work in clinic setting, community visits and working from home.

Your Role

We are looking for an enthusiastic and passionate Equipment and Adaptation Officer (EAO) to join a well-established team of other EAO’s, Occupational Therapists (OT’s), Moving and Handling Advisors, Rehabilitation Officers Visual Impairment and Handypersons in delivering services to individuals with physical, hearing and visual needs and their carers.

Identifying their strengths and needs with empathy, respect and empowerment you will ensure that our residents get the very best support to promote their well-being and independence

You will be involved in assessing needs in relation to the provision of equipment and adaptations, providing advice and information and signposting/ referring to other services and organisations.

About You

You will have strong knowledge of medical conditions and an awareness and understanding of the needs of people with disabilities and/or sensory needs (Visual and Hearing Impairment) along with knowledge of equipment and adaptations available for people with a physical, hearing and/or visual need and how they can assist in increasing functional independence and reduce risk.

You will have an understanding of the resources and services in Stockport to enable people to live independently in the community and have lived experience of, or a qualification/ experience of working with individuals with a hearing or visual impairment.

You will be a strong problem solver, with the ability to prioritise and organise your workload within a fast-paced environment. You will have strong written and verbal communication skills, along with the ability to use IT systems and record keep.

We are looking or someone with a BTEC Provision of Community Equipment or similar qualification e.g. NVQ, Trusted Assessor Award or a willingness towards gaining this qualification.

You should have a license to drive a car and have a car available to use at work (adjustments to the role may be possible if you are unable to drive due to a disability)

You will carry out home visits in the community and be able to access all areas of the home environment including the stairs. You need to have the physical ability to fit and demonstrate equipment in resident’s homes.

You will work alongside other experienced Equipment and Adaptation Officers and there are OT’s and OT managers who will provide you with ongoing support, help and advice for you to carry out the role to the best of your ability
