Job Purpose:

This opportunity is in the solution design and development arena for Methods Engineer who will play a major role in the technical design and development of the company’s technical offerings. The position is based at our Leicester office with occasional assignments at client locations.
Job Description (Main Duties and Responsibilities):
Analyze existing production and assembly processes to identify improvement opportunities in time, cost, quality, and safety.
Design and implement optimized methods and standard work procedures for manufacturing.
Develop process documentation including work instructions, SOPs, and method sheets.
Collaborate with design, R&D, and production teams to support new product introduction (NPI) and ensure manufacturability.
Conduct time studies, workflow analysis, and capacity planning.
Support the implementation of Lean Manufacturing principles (e.g., 5S, Kaizen, SMED, VSM).
Participated in equipment layout planning and ergonomics assessments.
Monitor and report on process performance metrics (OEE, takt time, scrap rates).
Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and root cause analysis (RCA).
Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations in all engineering activities.
Key Skills, Qualifications and Experience Needed [The candidate must demonstrate these in all stages of assessment]
Experience working in a related field for 4 to 5 years.
Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and industrial methods.
Proficient in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks) and process mapping tools.
Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement methodologies.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
Strong organizational and project management abilities.
Familiarity with software like MS Project, Trello, or Asana for managing process improvement projects.
Applying principles like 5S, Kaizen, Kanban, SMED, and Value Stream Mapping (VSM).
Using DMAIC, root cause analysis, and statistical tools to reduce variability and defects.
Proficiency in Excel, Power BI, or Minitab for analyzing production data and KPIs.
Familiarity with digital manufacturing tools, MES/ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, etc.).
Understanding of quality standards and ISO/TS compliance (where applicable).
