Makes complex judgements in a wide range of clinical situations which require analysis, assessment and investigation as part of their daily duties. Have specialised knowledge and in-depth understanding of the strategies utilised to detect and respond to the at risk or deteriorating patient Demonstrates an extended knowledge of recognising, assessing and initiating appropriate treatment interventions to the deteriorating patient. Has understanding of the range of educational techniques that can be deployed to best meet the requirements of a given situation. Competent in delivering both planned teaching sessions and situational teaching. Demonstrates cognitive skills and physical dexterity, ensuring accurate calculations when delivering complex treatments and therapies. To coordinate time management skills, in planning and prioritising workload with an appreciation of the impact on other team members and of the unpredictable nature of the job. Demonstrate critical thinking, problem solving and decision making skills to judge and analyse the most appropriate actions when dealing with complex situations. Ability to perform comprehensive patients assessments based on history taking and physical examination and the decision to act according to findings, suggesting solutions and making recommendations. Provide judgments regarding the making and receiving of direct referrals to and from relevant members of the multi-professional team regarding the needs of patients. To have the cognitive knowledge base to administer all medications, inclusive of intravenous injections and infusions in a safe and effective manner ensuring competency for self and others. Demonstrate ability to utilise information technology to support clinical practice. Actively participate in the research process, data collection and audit. Maintain a safe and secure environment for patients, staff and visitors.
