We are looking for an enthusiastic and self-motivated individual to play a key role in helping us ensure that the infrastructure of the borough of Chelmsford is kept to the best standard possible.

The Council’s Street Care Service is a wide ranging service geared toward improving the quality of the environment by improving litter standards, removing the nuisance created by fly-tipping, graffiti and fly-posting and improving feelings of safety and security.

Supporting the front line service is the Hit Squad team which undertake a wide ranging number of activities to ensure that the streets remain free from litter and fly-tips. This particular role will also cover for the street services team (approximately 25% of time) to drive the larger HGV vehicles such as the jet-vac tankers. Hiab cranes etc.

A current HGV class C licence and CPC is required for this post as well as experience in driving HGV vehicles in a commercial environment.

Based at our Freighter House depot in Springfield, the post holder would normally be expected to work the following hours:
Monday to Thursday 07:00am – 3:30pm, Friday 07:00am to 3:00

It should be noted however that some flexibility will be required, including occasional early or later starts, or the requirement to work on a weekend or bank holiday.

The successful candidate will be expected to work 37 hours per week.
