This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Interventional Radiology Nurse to develop their career and leadership skills.
As an important member of the Radiology Department, the successful candidate will deliver the highest quality nursing care to all patients and their relatives, using your clinical experience and enhanced skills.
Candidates should be highly motivated, forward thinking, enthusiastic and flexible. They should demonstrate excellent communication skills and work well as part of a team with a commitment to providing a quality service to our patients and an inclusive, open, and supportive work environment for our staff.
The successful candidate will be based on the newly opened Radiology Day Case Unit and will work closely with the Interventional Radiology Nursing Team. You will be responsible for the implementation and smooth running of the unit and the patients journey undergoing lung biopsy procedures. You will scrub/monitor and assist the radiologist during international procedures.
You will support the Band 7 Radiology Nursing Manager with the management and development of the Radiology Day Case Team, contribute to service development, and improve existing services.
The successful candidate would be expected to meet the needs of the unit and must be prepared to work flexible shifts.
To always act in accordance with the Nursing and Midwifery Council Code of Conduct and Practice.
• To work in the Radiology Day Case Unit to facilitate the safe admission, recovery and discharge of patients
• To ensure you are competent in additional mandatory training within radiology including, BLS, AIM’s, and National Safe Sedation training.
• To provide daily nursing advice and support to the radiology department, assisting the radiologists and radiographers with a wide range of highly specialist procedures.
• To provide nursing care to patients during highly specialist procedures according to trust policies and procedures.
• To scrub and assist the interventional radiologist in any interventional procedure when required.
• To monitor patient clinical observations and administer IV medications pre, peri and post procedure where required.
• To provide clinical expertise and knowledge and disseminate this knowledge to the radiology nurses and wider team.
• To follow nursing protocol for radiological procedures, ensuring physical, social, psychological, and spiritual needs are met, including communicating sensitive information to the radiology and multidisciplinary clinical teams.
• Contribute to supervising and training junior staff and student learners.
