Role Overview As a Consultant CAMHS Psychiatrist, you will lead on the diagnostic formulation and pharmacological management of young people referred for ADHD assessment. You will work collaboratively with psychologists, nurse prescribers, and family members to ensure holistic, family-centred care. Each young person will have completed: Initial referral screening and risk stratification Baseline forms/ family/developmental history A structured diagnostic interview (e.g., Conors/ DIVA or similar), conducted by an assistant or clinical psychologist Supporting reports from parents and schools Your role is to synthesise this information, conduct a full psychiatric evaluation, confirm or exclude an ADHD diagnosis, and initiate pharmacological treatment where appropriate. Key Responsibilities Conduct 60-minute diagnostic assessments (Assessment B) based on DSM-5/ICD-11 Review supporting documentation from families, schools, and psychology team Provide diagnostic feedback and engage families in shared decision-making Prescribe and monitor ADHD medications in accordance with NICE and BNF-C guidelines Lead titration appointments: Initial titration (30 mins clinical + 15 mins admin) Follow-ups (20 mins clinical + 10 mins admin) Monitor treatment response and side effects using patient-submitted data Participate in safeguarding decision-making and escalate concerns appropriately Attend monthly multidisciplinary team meetings and optional peer supervision sessions Maintain high standards of documentation and digital governance via EMIS What We Offer A structured, family-inclusive remote ADHD pathway with a focus on clinical quality Pre-assessment data, baseline screening, and structured interviews completed prior to your review Multidisciplinary support from psychology, nursing, and admin teams Robust safeguarding systems and digital clinical alerts Remote-first working model with autonomy and schedule flexibility Regular opportunities for peer learning and professional development Medico-legally sound governance model with shared responsibility Requirements Full GMC registration and CCT in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (or equivalent) At least 1 year of experience diagnosing and treating ADHD in under-18s Familiarity with NICE NG87, BNF-C, and national safeguarding standards Skilled in family engagement, school liaison, and neurodevelopmental formulation Comfortable with remote platforms (e.g., EMIS, video consultations) Enhanced DBS clearance and safeguarding Level 3 training
