Hybrid working with Wednesdays being an office day

A Driving Licence is required for this role



The role:

We’re looking for a proactive and experienced Case Officer to manage a diverse caseload of minor, major, and complex planning applications in the Development Management Team.

You will be responsible for drafting reports and recommendations for submission to the Planning Committee or for delegated decision and S106 negotiations and to meet strict weekly deadlines and you will play a crucial role in delivering housing in the borough within agreed deadlines.

The post would suit someone who has a track record of managing a varied caseload of more complicated schemes, working with stakeholders and consultees to deliver homes and meeting deadlines.

The role requires strong communication skills to engage proactively with councillors, stakeholders, and interest groups.

The ideal candidate is a self-starter who can work independently, maintain high energy and commitment, deliver excellent performance and accuracy, and provide outstanding customer service.



Key responsibilities:

Answering email and telephone enquiries about your applications
Arranging and attending meetings on your applications with the developer team and consultees
Preparing officer reports including conditions and heads of terms for S106 agreements
To possibly present applications to planning committee and answer questions from members
Point of contact for legal, admin officers, consultees, developers and other specialists.
Adhering to data protection and GDPR standards
To manage application paperwork, plans and reports and ensure electronic records are kept updated and well organised
Ensuring deadlines are met and decisions are issued within the agreed timeframes



What the client is looking for:

MRTPI qualification
Relevant undergraduate or postgraduate degree
At least 3 years’ experience working on complex and larger applications in a LPA environment
Experience in dealing with appeals, including Hearings and Public Inquiries
Strong team working skills and ability to build relationships
Excellent time management and organisation skills.
High level communication and presentation skills including clear, concise reporting and correspondence particularly concerning complex or controversial issues.
The ability to communicate with people of different social, economic and professional backgrounds
Conflict resolution and mediation skills
Appreciation of urban design and development economics
Driving licence
Attendance at evening and other out of hours meetings and events when required
Proficient in use of Office 365 particularly Excel and Word
Good working knowledge and some experience of using document management systems and databases
