What skills and experience we're looking for

We are looking for a Premises Maintenance Person/Caretaker to provide site assistance to our exiting premises team.

About The Role: As a proactive problem solver you will work under the instruction of the Site and Maintenance Manager to:

• Arrange, identify and prioritise maintenance, caretaking and cleaning requirements and organise work programmes ensuring that they are carried out in a timely manner and with minimal disruption to the working of the school.
• Carry out routine inspections, testing and maintenance on site equipment and systems.
• Carry out first line repairs on windows, fencing, internal furnishings and rooms
• Work alongside the Caretaking team to assist with setting up of school events, open up/lock up, basic grounds maintenance and cleaning as
• required

About You:

• Experienced in buildings maintenance and associated tasks for testing and repairs
• Knowledge of relevant H&S procedures and compliance
• A quick learner, with a positive attitude to continual improvement
• Reliable and trustworthy
• Able to work within a team, developing strong working relationships with colleagues.

Key terms: Hours: 37 hours per week. Exact working hours are negotiable with the successful candidate but are likely to be 7.30 – 15.30. Full time

Annual leave: The annual holiday entitlement for this post starts at 25 days plus bank holidays (April to March) Location: Based on site within the school

Remuneration: The Essex Schools’ Local Government Scale 6, Point 13 which is £28,163 gross per annum. This is within a range of Points 13 (£28,163) to17 (£30,060).

If a shift rota system is in operation, you will be required to undertake duties in accordance with this rota. This may cover day and evening shifts and there will be a contingent liability to carry out weekend duties should it be necessary. You will be required to undertake extra duties during some evenings and sometimes at the weekends in connection with such matters as the lettings of the premises and where contractor’s workmen are on the site. It is a condition of your employment that if the premises are used, after normal hours, you will perform such duties as are required in connection with this use or undertake a fair share of such duties in conjunction with any other caretaking staff employed.
