(Various Subjects - ECT Friendly – open to Primary or Secondary Teachers)

Due to unexpectedly high numbers of admissions in Sept 2025 and the reopening of our main building, we need to urgently recruit to several new posts for an initial period of theAutumn Term (1st September 2025 – 31st December 2025), therefore if you are available to start straightaway in Sept 25, we would love to hear from you.

Our Opportunity

Do you enjoy the challenge of teaching children and young people who have special educational needs? Do you have passion, enthusiasm and expertise to teach children and young people to reach their potential?

We are looking for a wonderful teacher for our Key Stage 3 or 4 groups. These classes consist of 8-10 pupils with diverse needs, including Autism and Moderate Learning Difficulties. You will be supported by teaching assistants to help you deliver engaging and effective lessons tailored to these students.

Curriculum

We offer a therapeutic curriculum which is focused on supporting the individual learning journey of each pupil, celebrating their strengths. Pupils are grouped in a “stage not age” model. We have Pre-Formal, Semi-Formal and Formal Learners.Our core Key Stage 3/4 curriculum covers maths, English, science, computing, and humanities, plus performing arts and music to develop confidence, and food tech as part of supporting independence. Personalised development is a major part of the curriculum at Welburn Hall.

Independent living skills are an essential part of personal development, ensuring pupils feel confident in their communities and enhance self-esteem.

This is an ideal opportunity for candidates looking to ‘test the waters’ of working in a special school.

You will have the enthusiasm and resilience to work with children and young people who have a wide variety of needs including:

• Autistic spectrum disorder
• Moderate and severe learning difficulties
• Speech, language and communication

Skills & Qualifications

• The ability to cater for the different learning styles of pupils with a range of learning difficulties
• You will be a very good classroom practitioner who consistently makes learning memorable, impacting on all students to make good progress
• Qualified Teacher Status
• The ability to teach more than one subject and demonstrate a proven successful track record in a comparable SEND setting, will be advantageous
• Primary or Secondary trained candidates may apply; this includes those teachers that are specialists in their subject matter
• We welcome ECT
