Support Worker (male support staff only) for a non-verbal man with autism, emotional and complex needs in Salisbury, Wiltshire.
Job Summary:
We are looking for a male support worker to join our team to support a non-verbal 32-year-old man with autism and complex needs to live in his own home.
You do not need experience. We will give you full and robust training and shadowing periods.
A robust care plan will be given to follow, which forms part of the main structure of the service.
If you are not sure about the position, come along and spend some time with the service user and service team manager to decide if this is the right placement for you.
This is a unique role in a unique service built around the needs of the service user, and it is completely person-centred to his needs.
The service user doesn’t require medication or personal care.
Shift pattern:
One weekend a month (except December) plus bank/casual.
Please make sure you are free to work any hours set out as part of your rota.
Role will include: up to one full live-in weekend a month supported by a second member of staff for part of the weekend.
Friday 2pm right through to Monday 2pm. This is the maximum it will be, which we will work towards. You do not have to work the whole weekend, and we can discuss options with you during the recruitment process.
As well as the weekend, you would be on bank/casual to cover any overtime, holiday, sickness, and any gaps in the rota. This could be any day of the week/sleep-in.
Due to the fact that this isn’t a full-time role, we welcome candidates who have a second job to work alongside, but please ensure that it won’t interfere with any confirmed shifts you are down to work.
The recruitment process:
Short video introduction which you will need to send on WhatsApp.
60-90 minute interview 1.
60-90 minute interview 2.
Paid training, shadow and trial shifts will commence for a minimum of six to twelve months.
Training, shadow shifts and trials:
Will take place at any point during any day of the week.
Please ensure you are available to partake fully in the training.
Holiday pay:
Is paid on top of the hourly rate at 12.07% which equates to five and a half weeks annual leave (unless you are contracted then it works a different way).
Rates of pay:
£15.50 per day hour plus the holiday pay to make it a total of £17.37 per hour.
Night sleep-in rate:
£34 per sleep-in (we pay an increased amount of £89.10 plus holiday pay per sleep to compensate you should you be awake).
You will be paid towards the end of the month (within the last four days of the month) in arrears pro rata through PAYE administered by Wiltshire Council payroll team and all tax, national insurance, pension etc. is calculated by them and you will be sent a monthly payslip with all payments and deductions.
