We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Science Technician to join our fantastic team at Manchester Enterprise Academy (MEA)

This is a Grade 3, permanent post working 35 hours per week, term time only plus 5 INSET days. The starting salary is £20,990 and the full time equivalent is £24,404 per annum.

Main purpose of the job:

Under the direction of senior staff, to provide technical support in a specific curriculum or resource area, including preparation and maintenance of resources and to provide general support to staff and pupil.

You will work collaboratively with all stakeholders in order to support students to become creative, happy & successful to make a key contribution to the development and support of the school through the provision of technical support in Science.


  • To support pupils in accessing learning activities under the guidance of the teacher.
  • To provide feedback to pupils in relation to progress and achievement where appropriate.
  • To create and maintain purposeful, orderly, and productive working environment within the specific curriculum or resource area.
  • To ensure timely and accurate preparation and use of specialist equipment, resources and materials as directed by the teacher or relevant line manager.
  • To monitor and manage stock within an agreed budget, cataloguing resources and undertaking audits as required.
  • To carry out maintenance of specialist equipment and checks in line with quality and safety standards.
  • To be aware of and comply with policies and procedures relating to child protection, health and safety, security, and confidentiality, reporting all concerns to an appropriate person as soon as they arise.

We’re looking for:

A Science Technician qualified to NVQ2 or equivalent qualification or experience in the relevant discipline. You will need to demonstrate a good understanding of the Science or aptitude for learning the relevant aspects of those subjects.
