Working in accordance with the UKCC Code of Conduct, the post-holder will lead and develop the Practice nursing team in the provision of assessment, treatment, screening, health education services and advice to patients. The post-holder will develop the team including Nurses, HCA's and Phlebotomists. Agree protocols and guidelines to provide nursing treatments to patients both independently and in participation with nurse colleagues and general practitioners. The post-holder will have the required level of training and competence and will work within patient group directions where these are available. A nurse with prescribing qualifications will use them appropriately. Management Responsibilities: Supervise staff performance, development and support the wellbeing of the team. Contribute to the implementation of policies and guidelines across the Practice nursing team. Clinical Responsibilities: Identify, assess and diagnose patients with complex health needs across the Practice population. Work with others to change policies to improve health and well-being and reduce inequalities. Lead the implementation and evaluation of evidence-based practice to improve the services offered by the Practice nursing team. Management of Chronic Diseases, wound care, health screening, travel health, health screening, immunisations (Adult and Child), Cytology. Stock maintenance and ordering. Any other delegated duties appropriate to the post. Confidentiality: In the performance of the duties outlined in this Job Description, the post-holder may have access to confidential information relating to patients and their carers, Practice staff and other healthcare workers. They may also have access to information relating to the Practice as a business organisation. All such information from any source is to be regarded as strictly confidential. Health & Safety: The post-holder will implement and lead on a full range of promotion and management of their own and others health and safety and infection control as defined in the practice Health & Safety Policy, the practice Health & Safety Manual, and the practice Infection Control policy and published procedures. Personal/Professional Development: In addition to maintaining continued education through attendance at any courses and/or study days necessary to ensure that NMC professional development requirements are met, the post-holder will participate in any training programme implemented by the Practice as part of this employment. Quality: The post-holder will strive to maintain quality within the Practice, and will: Alert other team members to issues of quality and risk. Contribute to the effectiveness of the team by reflecting on own and team activities and making suggestions on ways to improve and enhance the teams performance. Work effectively with individuals in other agencies to meet patients needs. Communication: The post-holder should recognise the importance of effective communication within the team and will strive to communicate effectively with other team members, patients and carers. Recognise peoples needs for alternative methods of communication and respond accordingly. Qualifications required: First level nurse, relevant nursing/health degree. Professional registration with the NMC - Nursing & Midwifery Council. Personal atrributes: Excellent communication skills, highly motivated, flexible, enthusiastic, attention to detail, team player. Strong leadership experience within an NHS setting.
