What will you be responsible for?
As a Section Engineer, you'll be working within the engineering team, supporting them in building a landmark infrastructure project in Somerset and one of England's biggest flood defence schemes. The role is site-based, reporting to the Sub Agent, and will play a critical part in the successful delivery of works including steel piling, earthworks, reinforced concrete structures, utilities, and general infrastructure.
Your day to day will include:
-Production and implementation of Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs) and Risk Assessments & Method Statements (RAMS) and complete accurate construction records, quality assurance documentation related to workmanship and materials, and production of as-built information.
-Lead and manage by putting to work, the site engineering team, overseeing performance, development, and technical standards and ensure the site team is equipped with the necessary documentation, technical information, and resources to fulfil their duties. You will also ensure the workforce understand setting out information has been identified as suitable for the type of work being carried out.
-Responsible for providing and maintaining setting out and dimensional control, to ensure accurate construction of the work within allowable tolerances. As well as regularly checking the setting out points and benchmarks and checking that all setting out instruments and measuring equipment are delivered to site with a calibration certificate and recorded accordingly.
-Preparation of 4-week lookahead programme, Plan of the Week Schedule, and managing the day-to-day activities for a given section of work and material call off's and reconciliation of delivered material.
-Liaise with the Sub Agent and Section Foreman to allocate labour, plant, materials, and temporary works effectively, ensuring delivery against programme, quality, and budget and proactively identify and resolve technical and logistical issues in liaison with the Sub Agent and wider delivery team.
What are we looking for?
This role of Section Engineer is great for you if:
-You hold a HNC, HND or Degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline
-You have significant experience in a Section Engineer role on civil engineering infrastructure projects, with practical experience of setting out, engineering control and site supervision.
-You are competent in producing and managing RAMS, ITPs and safety documentation as well as able to use CAD software.
-You have technical knowledge of piling, reinforced concrete, drainage, earthworks and temporary works.
-You hold a CSCS card, SSSTS and a full driving licence.
