About the Role

Using our amazing collections and professional expertise, Creative Learning Services delivers engaging learning opportunities to support the curriculum, inspire pupils and equip staff in schools with knowledge and skills.

You will deliver workshops to primary pupils, secondary students, and parents in schools throughout Leicestershire and Leicester, provide professional advice for school library staff, and manage the paid-for subscriptions of a caseload of schools.

You will contribute to working with the local library and educational partners to share your expertise in facilitating book awards, online author talks, and CPD.

You will be using your professional knowledge of children’s fiction and non-fiction to enthuse teachers and pupils about children’s literature, to raise attainment and wellbeing, and develop and maintain an up-to-date knowledge of the National Curriculum and current children’s literature through your own reading and contributing to the CLS library book selection.

A DBS enhanced check for a regulated activity is required for this post.

About You

To apply for this post, you must have the following skills, abilities and knowledge:

  • Degree or equivalent qualification in Library/Information management, or significant demonstrable experience of working in a library and/or education environment
  • Experience of working with children and young people through delivering workshops
  • Knowledge of the current National Curriculum and educational developments in schools
  • Up-to-date professional knowledge of children’s literature and authors
  • Provision of excellent customer care and understanding of customer requirements, whilst understanding the priorities of operating within an income-generating service
  • Ability to take responsibility for managing your own work to deliver objectives to agreed priorities, manage time effectively and ensure all tasks are completed and deadlines met with accuracy and attention to detail
  • Ability to work well in a team and with a range of partners, including schools, community and commercial partners
