The Faculty of Business and Creative Industries at the University of South Wales has an excellent Research & Innovation (R&I) record with over 75% of its research in Creative Industries rated as world-leading or internationally excellent (REF 2021). The faculty wishes to appoint a Research Fellow in Performance and Interactive & Immersive Technology, primarily to help drive its R&I in this area, but also to enhance the curriculum in Performance & Media.

This role will provide the right candidate with the opportunity to work as part of the vital Research & Innovation Group in the Creative Industries. It will involve developing our capabilities for innovation and growth in performance and interactive & immersive technology through externally funded projects and collaborations with industry partners.

Applicants should have a PhD in Performance and Interactive/Immersive Technology or a relevant area. The successful applicant will have an established record of high-quality publications stemming from their own independent research and commensurate with the faculty’s planned submission to REF 2029. They will have research interests that mesh well with the existing performance research team whilst significantly extending capabilities in performance and interactive/immersive technology. Evidence of excellent teaching and curriculum development in the field is also highly desirable.

The post holder will work alongside the wider research team offering support to senior research leaders in managing the research environment and supporting the effective generation and communication of R&I in the Faculty and proactively develop collaborative funding bids.

The role is based at the University of South Wales’ Faculty of Business and Creative Industries.

This role will suit a candidate who enjoys establishing positive working relationships beyond Higher Education and who is confident in designing and undertaking research that bridges industry with academia. The ability to work flexibly as part of both a large faculty and a smaller research team is important as is the ability to produce quality work to tight deadlines.
