Team Leader Children’s Residential Care
Location: Lancaster
Sector: Children’s Residential Care
About the role
Are you passionate about making a real difference in young people's lives? We are looking for a dedicated Team Leader to join a children’s residential care service in the Preston area. You’ll be joining a warm and supportive team that provides high-quality care to children and young people with complex needs, including Autism, Social, Emotional & Behavioural Difficulties (SEBD), and those who have experienced adverse childhood experiences.
As Team Leader, you will help ensure the smooth running of the service, supporting the management team and leading staff on shift. You’ll assign tasks, monitor completion, and ensure a safe, nurturing, and family-feel environment. Your role will include supporting children in their daily lives, encouraging social and leisure activities, maintaining family connections, and upholding high standards of care and safeguarding.
What we’re looking for
Level 3 qualification in Children’s Residential Care (or equivalent)
Minimum 2 years’ experience in a residential setting (or similar)
Leadership experience is desirable
Full UK manual driving licence required
Flexible to work long day shifts (e.g., 8am – 10pm) and sleep-in shifts (10pm – 7am), including staying away from home for a few days at a time
Confident in leading and supporting a team to deliver excellent care
What we offer
£13.99 – £14.99 per hour, depending on qualifications and location
Additional £78.30 per sleep-in shift (up to 8 per month, adding over £7,500 per year)
£500 welcome bonus after completing probation
£1,000 refer-a-friend bonus
Paid comprehensive induction and training (two weeks) plus shadow shifts
Flexible working pattern with longer shifts, meaning more days off per week
Free onsite parking and meals while on shift
Clear career development opportunities to Deputy Manager and beyond
Company pension scheme and staff recognition awards
Free enhanced DBS check

We’re looking for people who are:
Friendly – passionate, caring, and approachable
Positive – maintaining an upbeat and pleasant attitude
Empowering – encouraging others to grow in confidence and independence
Person-centred – focusing on the individual strengths and needs of each child
Innovative – bringing fresh ideas and approaches to care
Safeguarding commitment
We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of the children and young people we support. All successful candidates will be subject to an Enhanced DBS check and other relevant background checks.
