Working on a set rolling shift pattern the role involves the following duties;
To supervise the Support Worker (Homecare) performance in the delivery of care as required and as directed by the Co-ordinator / Manager of Homecare Services.
To ensure that the Support Workers carry out their duties and responsibilities in a professional manner.
To ensure that the standard of service being delivered meets the service user’s needs and expectations expressed in the contracts entered into by the organisation.
To carry out monitoring reviews of the service delivery as required by the Operations Manager.
To participate in learning and educational process appropriate to skill requirement of their position.
To participate in the out of hours rota.
In addition to supervisory duties the post holder will be required to undertake homecare duties as detailed below:-
To provide personal care, practical help and social support as appropriate to the individual needs of home based service users.
To assist and co-operate with other team members in meeting the needs of service users in harmony with their care plan.
Any other duties in line with the post that may be agreed.
Ultimately to provide a quality service.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
To provide care and support to service users which upholds their rights to privacy, dignity, respect and choice.
To work along side other care professionals and colleagues in assisting service users and family members in ensuring the service comfort and safety.
To ensure at all times that the service is non-discriminatory and is according to the service users’ personal beliefs and values.
To undertake training as required, to be able to deliver a quality service determined by the company.
The nature of the post may require you to perform other duties not listed in the list below:
Work with service manager to deliver quality of care.
Work with Care team to ensure wellbeing of support team and service users is being considered as a priority.
Participate in spot checks.
Participate in the out of hours service.
Delivery of care; Prepare and cook meals and assist clients with feeding, do shopping, collecting pensions, prescriptions etc, Assist clients with personal hygiene, washing, bathing, help clients to get dressed.
Assist in toilet duties, emptying and cleaning commodes and handling incontinence laundry, assist service users to get into and out of bed, accompany service users in agreed circumstances.
To work flexibly with Team Leaders, the Director and colleagues in delivering a quality service to our service users and to inform the organisation of any change of circumstances that may have an effect on the service users care plan.
To undertake such duties determined as appropriate by the Service Manager.
Supervision and Support
Regular supervision will be given to ensure that the Senior Support Worker will be supported and allowed to update his/her self with personal development.
Training to an appropriate national standard is a requirement of the post. All employees will be required to undergo training and development and is deemed essential by the Manager of Homecare services.
Confidentiality
The nature of the job requires that all workers exercise complete confidentiality in matters relating to service users and to the service provided.
Breaches of confidentiality will initiate disciplinary procedures that could lead to termination of employment.
Contact and Communication
The individual is part of a team and is expected to contribute to the development of the team and to effectively communicate with other care and professional agencies, family members and friends of clients.
The Senior Support Worker is required to demonstrate excellent communication skills and to act as a role model for other Home carers.
Qualifications and Skills
SVQ level 3 in Health and social care preferred.
A current driving license and access to a car are essential for this role.
Support Workers are required to demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively and empathise with service users. It is essential that Support Workers possess good self-managing skills and accept responsibility for their work with service users.
The Senior Support Worker is required to demonstrate the ability to deal fairly and firmly with Support Workers and others.
Experience
Previous experience in caring for other people:
e.g. older people
children
relatives / friends
