Millfield School is looking for a practical, reliable, and enthusiastic Design Technology Technician to support the work of our thriving Design Technology Department.
This is a hands-on role where you will help prepare and maintain materials, tools, and machinery for practical lessons, support staff and students during workshop activities, and ensure our teaching spaces are safe, well-organised, and ready for learning. You’ll also assist with displays, extra-curricular projects, and the general day-to-day running of the department. Full training will be provided, including Health & Safety procedures and equipment use.
We are looking for someone who is organised, approachable, and keen to contribute to a busy, creative environment. You might have a background in design, engineering, or working with tools and machinery—or simply a strong interest in helping young people learn practical skills. Above all, you'll be someone who enjoys working as part of a team, takes pride in keeping things running smoothly behind the scenes, and is committed to maintaining a safe and supportive learning environment for students.
The hours of work are 8.30am-4.30pm Monday to Friday and 8.30-12.30pm Saturday during term time and 8.30am-4.30pm Monday to Friday for 4 weeks during non-term time.
The role offers an actual salary of £21,290.87 per annum (inclusive of statutory holiday pay) based on an FTE of £27,096, plus an array of staff benefits including freshly prepared lunches for only £10 per month, access to school facilities, and discounts/cashback on high street shops and restaurants through the school’s Employee Assistance Programme.
