Head of Governance and Company Secretary

Location: Hybrid working. Office based is St Ralph Sherwin Catholic Multi Academy Trust, Third Floor St Katherine's House, Mansfield Road, Derby, Derbyshire, DE1 3TQ. The postholder is expected to travel to meetings around the Trust area. Home working is possible.

Hours: 30 hours per week - flexible working pattern available

The contract offered is over 52 weeks per year to be worked flexibly with some evening work required in line with the role and the Trust meeting schedule.

Salary: Band S1, Scale Point 30 - 34
FTE: £39,513 – £43,693 Per Annum FTE
Actual Salary: £32,037.57 – £35,426.76 Per Annum (pay award pending effective 1 April 2025) Plus 23.6% Local Government Pension

We are seeking a knowledgeable, values-driven and approachable Head of Governance and Company Secretary to join our Central Trust Team. This is an exciting opportunity to lead and strengthen governance across our Catholic Multi Academy Trust and to make a lasting contribution to the future of Catholic education in our communities.

This is a strategic leadership role, working closely with the Chair of the Board, Chief Executive Officer, and senior leaders across our 25 academies. You will provide high-quality advice and support on governance, compliance and regulatory frameworks, ensuring our Trust and its Local Governing Bodies are robust, effective and aligned with our Catholic mission.

A strong understanding of company and charity law
Proven experience in governance and compliance in an educational or charitable context
The ability to lead and inspire a dispersed team
A passion for promoting good governance and Catholic values
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
A calm, detail-oriented approach with the ability to manage a varied workload
