Data Services and Analytics hosts one of the most advanced data analytics centers in government. We strive to lead the way in the appropriate and proportionate use of data and analytics to deliver joined-up, intelligent services that unlock the value from data and improve decision making, policy and operations. We use a wide range of Home Office data and serve every part of the Home Office. You will be responsible for helping and deliver business-critical analytical data products used across the Home Office.

As a Senior Change and Release Manager, you will lead the management of IT-related service changes across the Home Office. This includes overseeing changes introduced by business portfolios, suppliers, transition teams, project managers, and other stakeholders.

You’ll manage both scheduled and urgent changes, such as those triggered by incidents, ensuring they are rigorously assessed in line with industry best practices. Strong analytical, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills are essential, along with the ability to prioritise and act decisively.

You may also mentor junior colleagues within the Service Management community, take online management responsibilities if needed, and contribute to collaboration and capability-building initiatives through the IT Operations community of practice.

Recruitment and Retention Allowance

This post is eligible for a DDaT Recruitment Retention Allowance. Successful candidate with exceptional skills and experience may apply for a Recruitment and Retention Allowance. This allowance is subject to an initial review within six months of taking up the post and thereafter an annual review in line with the departmental priorities and could be reduced or withdrawn at any time.

Under Home Office hybrid working practices there is an expectation that you will attend the office for a minimum of 60% of your working hours.

What you will do

Your main day to day responsibilities will be:

  • Reviewing and prioritising changes, clearly communicating potential impacts, and ensuring adequate testing to minimise service disruption.
  • Rigorously assessing the risk and impact of all changes—especially complex ones—engaging the right stakeholders and ensuring documentation and back-out plans are in place.
  • Coordinating with Incident Management on emergency changes, joining technical bridge calls when needed, and managing the Emergency Change process.
  • Supporting the development of policies, processes, and procedures aligned with best practice to ensure service quality.
  • Investigating non-compliance with change policies, facilitating discussions to improve adherence across stakeholders.
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with Service, Architecture, Integration and Design, Service Management, and third-party suppliers to meet KPIs and uphold service standards.
  • Enhancing stakeholder understanding of the change process, identifying operational improvements, capturing lessons learned, and contributing to relevant forums and Post Implementation Reviews.
