Summary
Are you ready to shape the future of digital public services?
Do you have the technical expertise to lead platform design and unlock the full potential of ServiceNow?
Join us at DWP Digital as a Senior ServiceNow Platform Engineer and help us deliver smarter, faster, and more secure services to millions across the UK.
As part of the DWP Place team, you’ll be at the heart of an innovative platform powered by ServiceNow and Amazon Connect, helping transform the colleague experience across IT Services, Security Operations, Delivery Governance and more. You’ll work within a thriving, multi-skilled team that supports our shared services strategy and ultimately helps us better serve our citizens.
In this role, you’ll take ownership of technical design, governance and security, playing a key part from early consultation and ideation through to solution delivery. Reporting to the lead for platform engineering and live operations, you’ll bring deep ServiceNow expertise and a drive to maximise platform value through smart integration and scalable design.
The role is required to support the lead for platform engineering and live operations and also partner primarily with Product Managers to help understand the technical aspects of ideas and demands for various use cases. The successful candidate will help identify the best way to exploit ServiceNow out of the box platform capabilities to achieve the outcomes required.
As a Senior ServiceNow Platform Engineer, you will:
- Facilitate technical discovery for new ideas / requirements / use cases including but not limited to core platform, machine learning, integrations, automation, platform security, implementation of new modules or products.
- Define and document integration solutions that enable DWP or 3rd party applications to interoperate with the ServiceNow platform.
- Deliver high-level technology solution documentation, technical design artefacts and underlying design patterns as required for architecture governance.
- Ensure solutions meet user needs and align with DWP strategy and standards.
- Support the wider DWP Place team, blending technical (engineering and architecture) and behaviour (leadership and communication) skills.
- Identify, capture, and share technical design patterns.
- Participate in the development of the Engineering Practice and community.
You will work closely in collaboration with:
- Software and Infrastructure Engineers, to inform the software and technical infrastructure build.
- Product Owners to articulate the ‘art of the possible’, to help to define the products, and support product prioritisation.
- Business Analysts, User Research, Content, and Interaction Design to assure their functional design outputs fit within the technical guardrails of the platform.
- Architects to articulate high level designs and patterns to influence Design Authority decisions.
- Security Architects and Assessors to maintain the risk position and security posture of the platform.
- ServiceNow Solution Consultants, Product SMEs and Platform Architects from ServiceNow to deep-dive into how various areas of the platform are designed to help inform technical design deliverables.
- Other platform vendors to understand how to best exploit the capabilities that DWP has invested into.
While not essential, prior experience in the following areas would be beneficial when starting the role.
- Functional knowledge of ServiceNow Security Incident Response, Vulnerability Response, Integrated Risk Management or Field Service Management.
- ITIL certification.
- Experience in ServiceNow specific integration capabilities and integrating ServiceNow or other enterprise SaaS platforms with on-prem or other cloud systems, particularly in the areas of automation, orchestration, system of record data enrichment and ticket eBonding.
- ServiceNow Certification (CSA or CIM).
- Experience in Amazon Connect CCaaS or equivalent telephony platforms and CTI.
