Centralised Recruitment:

• Chemotherapy Coordinator - 22.5 hours per week, Permanent. Location - Churchill Hospital

Chemotherapy Delivery
1. Use electronic software packages (eg ARIA) to co-ordinate the prescribing of chemotherapy by Doctors, its screening by pharmacists and receipt of prescriptions by the relevant pharmacy departments and being responsible for updating all relevant documentation.
2. Be proactive in liaising with doctors and pharmacists to ensure that all chemotherapy is prescribed and screened, ideally 48 hours in advance.
3. Work with pharmacy and DTU staff to minimise wastage.
4. Liaise daily with nursing staff, providing a status report detailing the stage at which patients’ chemotherapy prescriptions have reached in the process.
5. Support Pharmacy with database input and with any audits that need to be undertaken.
6. Provide administrative support for Chemotherapy Schedulers.
7. Manage blood requests for new patients.
8. Liaise with Cardiology to ensure all Echo referrals are actioned, and that all relevant data bases are maintained. Ensure all relevant Echo referrals are sent to Healthcare@Home.
9. Deal with general patient enquires in person, by phone or email
10. Manage Herceptin referrals & scripts to Health Care At Home
11. Coordination of oral education and denosumab.
12. Prepare patient satisfaction surveys and input result data onto spreadsheets.
13. Prepare and label boxes for archiving and take to Main Dispensary.
Administrative support- Other Electronic Database:
1. Use EPR to capture all patient activity within DTU this includes being able to complete waiting lists, admissions/discharges, ward attenders and appointments.
2. Have thorough knowledge of 18 weeks Referral to Treatment in relation to patients and how this applies to patients being referred to Oncology/Haematology.
3. Answer the telephone and take messages from patients, relatives, doctors, allied health care professionals etc and deal with any queries as appropriate.
