The Trust is seeking a consultant psychiatrist to join an established team at rehabilitation unit, Heathfield House in Stockport.
The unit is for patients having predominantly intractable severe and enduring mental illnesses, and who require a step-down rehabilitation before considering their discharge into community. Whilst some patients will have a history of risk to others, the predominant need at the time of admission is for rehabilitation and the management of their psychosis or affective disorders. The average length of stay for patients is two years.
The team is composed of: Consultant Psychiatrist (0.8 WTE - split between 3 LTFT cover Consultants), 1 WTE ACP, psychologist, assistant psychologist, Occupational Therapist, Technical Instructor, Ward Manager and a Medical secretary. There is currently no trainee at Heathfield house.
The majority of patients are from the Pennine Care footprint, though we accept referrals from throughout the North West region. The length of stay is highly variable, though average length of stay is expected to be 18 – 24 months.
The consultant would be expected to liaise with the referring and community teams during the admission and discharge process. But there is no expectation to provide community follow-ups.
