About the Child:
Six years old strong, curious, and active boy. He has significant developmental delays, including a speech delay and a diagnosis of Autism. He lacks understanding of rules, boundaries and dangers. Frustration can be triggered when he finds certain activities difficult. Transitions also may cause heightened anxiety. Routines & patterns are significantly important for his emotional regulation. He receives intensive therapies such as intensive interaction to exchange communication which helps regulating his emotions, behaviours, and learning. He vocalise some words but mostly communicates by taking an adult by the hand and showing them what he wants.
It is the job of the personal assistant to assist the boy with personal, educational, and social care; both at home and in the community (occasionally). The personal assistant will work under the direction of the parents to meet his needs.

* Play alongside or with the child and use simple words and phrases to role model language e.g. 'car-red car’.
* Daily 1:1 activity to support joint attention through child led educational play, clapping games, nursery rhymes, books, turn taking etc.

The personal assistant has a general responsibility to:
- Be reliable.
