What skills and experience we're looking for

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Teaching Assistant Level 1 to join our fantastic team at CHS South.

This is a Grade 2, permanent post working 30 hours per week, term time only plus 5 INSET days. The full-time equivalent salary is £24,027. The pro-rata salary is £17,714.

We’re looking for:

As a Teaching Assistant you will need to have experience of working with or caring for children of a relevant age and basic understanding of child development and learning. You will need to have excellent numeracy and literacy skills, qualified to level 2 or equivalent/higher. You will be able to attend to children's personal needs, including pastoral, social, health, physical hygiene, minor first aid and welfare matters.

You will demonstrate a commitment to appropriate professional standards, including core policies relating to equality and diversity and child protection. You will require empathy and tact to build excellent interpersonal relationships with all stakeholders and embrace a collaborative approach focused on improvement and supporting the vision, values and objectives of the school.

Main purpose of the job:

You will support access to learning and provide general support for the school in the management of pupils and resources, as directed by senior staff.

Key responsibilities will include:

• To work collaboratively with all staff and parents to support pupil wellbeing and to promote the five outcomes of Every Child Matters
• To work with small groups of children under the supervision of the teacher and ensure implementation of Individual Learning Plans.
• Provide regular feedback on children’s progress to the class teacher and keeping records up to date.
• Assist with the supervision of discreet groups of pupils for short periods when the teacher is not present.
• Be aware of and support difference and ensure all pupils have equal access to opportunities to learn and develop.
• Participate in training, to develop relevant learning strategies and ensure students make progress in learning.
• To support the performance management process and demonstrate commitment to continuous professional development.
