To undertake womens health physiotherapy/continence clinics and classes as required. To perform advanced physiotherapeutic/continence assessment of patients with pelvic floor dysfunction and/or bladder/bowel symptoms; use advanced clinical reasoning skills and manual assessment techniques to provide an accurate diagnosis of their condition. To formulate and deliver an individual physiotherapy/continence treatment programmes based on a sound knowledge of evidence based practice and treatment options. Including advanced pelvic floor physiotherapy, biofeedback and electrostimulation To develop management plans based on a sound knowledge of evidence based practice for patients where treatment is not effective. To assess patient understanding of treatment proposals and gain valid informal consent to treatment. To use a range of verbal and non-verbal communication tools to communicate effectively and sensitively condition related information with patients, doctors and other members of the multi- disciplinary team. This will include patients who may be dysphasic, depressed, deaf, blind or who may be unable to accept the diagnosis. To evaluate patient progress, reassess, alter treatment programmes and refer on to other health care professionals if required. To participate in the development of integrated continence services and promote awareness of continence care amongst colleagues in acute and primary care services To manage clinical risk within own patient caseload seeking guidance from team members as appropriate. Work within the Trust and CSPs clinical guidelines and to have a good working knowledge of national and local standards. Monitor own and others quality of practice as appropriate. To make accurate and complete records of work undertaken and keep monthly statistics in line with CSP, continence and physiotherapy department standards. To be professionally and legally accountable for all aspects of your own professional and clinical work. To participate in the development and delivery of Continence Service formal and informal training programmes as required To contribute to development of patient care by attending relevant team, departmental or other appropriate meetings and comment on recommended changes to clinical care or service provision. Professional To maintain own clinical professional development (CPD) by keeping abreast of new developments and trends and incorporate them as necessary into your work. To actively participate in in-service training programme by attending and contributing to discussions and presentations including modelling for practical sessions. Participate in the Trusts appraisal process To be responsible for teaching student physiotherapists to graduate level on physiotherapeutic skills and knowledge within core clinical areas. To participate in data collection and lead clinical audit as required within the continence service/physiotherapy department or as part of the MDT. Maintain and develop current knowledge of evidence based practice in womens health/continence care, developing specialist knowledge. Organisational To be responsible for equipment used in carrying out physiotherapy/continence duties and to adhere to departmental policies and guidelines to ensure safe use of equipment. To report any defects or difficulties to clinical manager. To share responsibility for departmental tidiness, maintenance and administration. Utilize IT systems appropriately to improve the efficiency of the service. To assist in the supervision and co-ordination of junior staff and assistants on a daily basis ensuring their practice as well as your own meets the required professional standards. General Responsibilities To attend statutory and mandatory training in line with the Trusts policy. To maintain complete confidentiality of all patient and staff information known or acquired during the course of work. To not release such information to anyone else other than in an official capacity. To adhere to all policies and procedures of the continence department of Central Surrey Health. To undertake any other duties or responsibilities commensurate with the grade as requested by clinical manager.
