This is an exciting opportunity to join Blaise High school and become an integral member of the SEND department.
We are looking for an enthusiastic Part Time Speech & Language Therapist to join our committed SEND Department. To provide Speech and Language therapy for students attending Blaise High School, mainly in the Resource Base for students with moderate learning difficulties, and for identified students in the mainstream school.
Lead, deliver and monitor the delivery of high quality evidence based therapies for individual, groups and/or teacher directed and evaluate their effectiveness
Assess and diagnose students
To contribute to training of professional staff and others as required
To provide verbal feedback and written documents as needed to a professional standard.

Main responsibilities:
To be responsible for the delivery of speech and language therapy services at Blaise High School including assessment, diagnosis and therapy for students.
To effectively manage a caseload of students with Speech Language and Communication Needs
To take part in the development of the Speech and Language department and the wider school;
To model, train, coach and support other staff with respect of meeting students’ speech, language and communication needs.
To evaluate the effectiveness of speech and language interventions and provide feedback to stakeholders.
To provide specialist therapy services utilising a variety of service delivery models including individual, joint, multidisciplinary, group and teacher directed sessions.
To use specialist knowledge of standardised assessment and other assessment tools in combination with advanced reasoning skills to record baseline measures and/or differential diagnoses.
To develop and implement speech and language programmes for individuals and groups using expertise to create innovative and effective ways of working where appropriate to maximise individual students’ potential.
To provide speech and language outcomes and targets for integration into the educational curriculum as part of each students’ EHCPs in consultation with parents, teachers and other multidisciplinary staff.
To regularly monitor and review the students’ ongoing communication needs.
To liaise closely with all staff to support implementation of appropriate communication strategies on a daily basis.
To supervise/manage the work of Teaching Assistants and offer advice, support and guidance on a daily basis.
To devise and write intervention programmes for implementation by TAs.
You will need:
To be a registered men=mber of the Royal College of Speech and language Therapists (RCSLT) and Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)
Hold a degree or diploma in Speech and Language Therapy that is recognised by the RCSLT
Willingness to undertake ongoing training.
Experience working with parents, carers and professionals
Previous experience of working in an educational setting and language Unit.
Previous experience of working in a secondary school
