The ‘Wise Owl Club’ is our before and after school club with up to 100 children attending each day at breakfast and after school sessions. We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic, hardworking, and creative Playworker to work with our after school club team.
Ideally, the successful applicant will be available to work 5 days per week, Monday to Friday, 3:00pm – 6:00pm. However, if you are only available to work some of these days your application may be considered. Please indicate your preferred days on the application form.
The role includes:
To actively assist the club manager and supervisors in the safe and organised running of the club
Undertake other duties as requested by the manager/supervisors (e.g., preparing, serving, and tidying away ‘snacks’, escorting children to and from clubs including swimming)
Supervising and engaging with the children in play and conversation whilst ensuring their safety at all times
Ensuring every child has a positive and fun experience whilst attending the club
Being aware of and maintaining sensitivity for children with additional needs
Plan, create, set up and deliver activities for children to take part in (e.g., arts and craft, cooking/baking, board games, in and outdoor play and a whole lot more) and encourage children to participate
Administering first aid when needed (training will be provided)

Most importantly, be passionate about providing outstanding childcare and be willing to have fun and enjoy working with children aged between 4-11 years
Be enthusiastic, honest, reliable and hardworking with a ‘can-do’ attitude
Have an energetic personality and be creative in providing new activities for the children – if you have a hobby or skill that you can share with the children (e.g., photography, dance, sport, art) that would be an advantage.
Have a good general level of education. Although no formal qualifications are required, a childcare, Playworker or similar qualification at NVQ level 2 or higher (or equivalent) would be an advantage.
