We are currently looking for a talented Principal Civil Engineer to join our thriving Mission Critical team. You'll be based in our newly refurbished London offices, a short distance from Liverpool Street Station and Our FlexWorks policy means this role can be worked on a hybrid basis with a minimum of 3 days in the office.

What does the role involve?

Working on a wide range of projects including large data centres, you'll be responsible for the delivery of civil engineering infrastructure design, from initial feasibility studies through to construction design and on site inspections. This includes below ground drainage, utilities, highways, earthworks and infrastructure design such as calculations, modelling, inspections, surveys and reports. You will manage and deliver projects within cost, time profitability and quality requirements, along with design coordination as part of a multi-disciplinary team, inputting to programme and defining information required to proceed. Duties may also include obtaining third party approvals, liaising with clients, other professionals and the public. You may also be required to supervise and train employees with less experience.

What do you need to be successful in the role?

You will have excellent design skills in civil engineering infrastructure and be able to competently undertake computer based analysis (such as Info Drainage and/or Civils 3d). Knowledge and understanding of UK Codes of Practice, Design Standards, Building Regulations and Health and Safety is required. You'll also have a degree in Engineering and will be chartered with the Institution of Civil Engineers.

You’ll be able to input to programme and estimating of time to complete tasks, identifying any dependencies and information required to achieve deadlines. You will have experience in managing workload across multiple projects and delegating tasks efficiently to team members with less experience, checking and reviewing work for quality control.

We require excellent communication skills to be able to present technical design solutions to non-technical clients and external parties, as well as prioritisation skills to ensure achievement of various deadlines. Knowledge and experience of budgeting and cost control is preferred but not essential for this role.
