An excellent opportunityhas become available fora Band7Clinical/Counselling Psychologist to join the Berkshire CAMHS WestSpecialist Community Team (SCT)coveringReading,Wokinghamand Newburylocalities.


The Specialist Community Teams provideassessments, therapeutic interventions, and care coordination for children and young peoplewhoare experiencing moderate to severe complexmental health difficulties. We work asa close and supportive multidisciplinary team and in partnership with other CAMHS teams and external agencies to provide high quality and holistic mental health care to young people.  


The post will involve joining a team of clinicians within ourSpecialist Community Team to provide assessments, care-coordination, and evidence-based psychological interventions to young people and their families.As anewly qualifiedmember of the team,you will be supportedthrough regular clinical and management supervision as well as receiving support and guidance through the MDT.


Staff wellbeing and development is a priority for the team, there is dedicated time for reflective case discussion and team formulation, wellbeing activities and support.


The ideal clinician will be thoughtful and reflective, and someone who is a team player. We are an experienced team and as a Service weare able toprovide a supportive structure anda safe, working environment with protected and manageable caseloads.

• Provide comprehensive assessments and therapeutic interventions to young people and their families, asappropriate.  

• Provide careco-ordinationfor young people open to theService. 

• Independently manage an appropriately sized caseload. 

• Use supervision effectively. 

• Offer supervision and training to junior colleagues and other agencies asappropriate.  

• Work with colleagues to support theclinical leadership of the team. 

• Work effectively in a multi-disciplinary team and within a multiagency system. 

• Work autonomously within professional guidelines and exercise responsibility for the systematic governance of psychological practice.  

• Contribute to audit, service development and research, asappropriate.

• Maintain own continuing professional development and contribute to team professional development initiatives.

The “must haves” for this role:

• A Clinical registrable qualification. 

• Experience in Children’s Mental Health services. 

• The ability to manage complexity.

• To work as part of a team.
