What you’ll be doing:
Southdown is the largest not-for-profit provider of care, support, and housing in Sussex. We’ve been helping people access stable accommodation, mental health and care services since 1972, now counting over 900 people as part of our team.
Are you passionate about numbers and systems? Join our small, friendly finance team as an Accounting and Systems Specialist, where your expertise will help drive both financial accuracy and digitalisation.
In this key role, you’ll take ownership of our month-end processes—producing essential journals and overseeing the Balance Sheet to ensure everything adds up. But that’s just the beginning.
You’ll play a leading role in the rollout of our new Purchase-to-Pay (P2P) platform, guiding the transition and taking charge of its ongoing management. You’ll also oversee finance system updates, lead user testing, and deliver training to keep the team confident and up to speed.
As a secondary approver, you’ll review and co-sign bank reconciliations and payments, adding an extra layer of assurance to our financial operations.
If you enjoy financial accounting and bringing a practical, detail-oriented approach to your work, we’d love to hear from you. You’re either a finalist or already qualified, and may have had experience in roles such as Financial Analyst, Financial Systems Specialist, Accounting Analyst, Systems Accountant, Accountant, Accounting Specialist or Accounting Supervisor.

Knowledge, skills and experience
What you’ll need for the role:
ACCA / CIMA / ACA - finalist or qualified
Knowledge of accounting principles surrounding accruals, prepayments and fixed assets
Knowledge of accounting systems testing and updates
What would be nice:
Prior experience using SUN systems
Experience supporting a year-end audit
Working knowledge of FRS 102 and exposure to Housing SORP
