This role is 12 months fixed-term (employment or secondment). Please note, a 10-minute Presentation is required to be presented on the interview date. The presentation can be in MS Powerpoint format and should focus on the following: Please outline your approach to leading the transformation of foundation pharmacist training across the five acute trusts in Lancashire and South Cumbria. Please address: How you would ensure full compliance with the new GPhC Initial Education and Training Standards (IETS) across all trusts. Your strategy for harmonising induction, supervision (including DPP support), and multi-sector rotation processes to deliver a sustainable, high-quality training programme. How you would engage and support key stakeholders to drive change and overcome barriers. Your approach to evaluating and assuring the quality and impact of the new training programme to meet both organisational and trainee needs. Please ensure your presentation is structured, concise, and demonstrates an understanding of the complexities of delivering a system-wide training transformation. Interviews are scheduled for 21/07/2025. Key working relationships: NHSE WT&E Trust chief pharmacists Trust education leads University of Lancashire and other HEIs ICB Chief Pharmacist ICB Pharmacy Workforce and Integration Lead and locality workforce development leads L&SC Primary Care Training Hub Local Pharmaceutical Committee and community pharmacies Primary Care Networks and GP Practices Main duties: 1. Responsible for strategic development of a training programme for foundation year pharmacists across trusts in Lancashire and South Cumbria, considering the new Initial Education and Training Standards (IETS) and ensuring all trusts are compliant with the GPhC standards. 2. Responsible for the strategic development, piloting, evaluation and implementation of new models of supervision for independent prescribing pharmacist learners. 3. Ensure the introduction of multi-sector placements for foundation pharmacist trainees and develop a robust plan for rotations for 2027-28. 4. Work strategically and closely with colleagues from key stakeholder organisations across the Lancashire and South Cumbria System. i.e. L&SC ICB, NHSE WT&E regional team, LPC, Universities, and trusts, for example. 5. Work strategically and closely with the ICB Pharmacy Workforce and Integration Lead to ensure an understanding of the wider pharmacy workforce development plans and strategies. 6. Work closely with trust workforce development teams to develop training skills and ensure sustainability of the training programme post 2025-26. 7. Explore programmes and further capacity in trusts including increasing number of trainees and workforce planning. 8. Develop joint recruitment across trusts and wider organisations, including group interviewing. 9. Ensure the NW scope of practice for newly qualified pharmacists and the corresponding implementation toolkit has been adopted, is in use and is adhered to. 10. Ensure purposeful inductions are conducted on-line once across all trusts, for example U&Es interpretation, including developing a programme of relevant content to be delivered centrally. 11. Scope out, test, evaluate, develop and describe a detailed process for existing teams to follow to ensure sustainability for future years. 12. Work with other stakeholders to develop sustainable DPP support. 13. Write complex reports around the training requirements and innovative approach to future developments for training for foundation year pharmacist trainees, following the pilots and implementation. 14. Assess the on-going quality and effectiveness of the foundation pharmacist trainee training programme using, for example, audits, surveys, and evaluation and use the results to analyse, identify and use judgement to implement improvements or changes based on the findings. 15. Interpret, develop, plan, and implement quality initiatives and service improvements that pertain to foundation trainee pharmacists across all trusts. 16. Provide professional advice and guidance, in relation to the foundation pharmacist training programme, to managers and professional colleagues throughout secondary care across Lancashire and South Cumbria. 17. Follow and implement NHS values and provide leadership to trust teams to do the same. 18. Support audit and research activities across the service. Communication: 19. Build exceptionally strong working relationships with key stakeholders in other organisations, for example: L&SC ICB, NHSE WT&E regional team, LPN, Universities, and trusts. 20. Communicate highly complex information accurately and clearly when verbal, written or presented. 21. Understand the barriers and complexities to the changes needed to transform the training programme and articulate complex information where there are challenges with understanding, acceptance, emotion and confrontation to organisational change. 22. Lead on, identify, and develop reports on statistics and progress against the plans. 23. Provide expert information to managers regarding the education needs of foundation trainee pharmacists. 24. Initiate, plan, organise and chair meetings, which have a clear purpose and outcome. 25. Use advanced and innovative interpersonal skills of negotiation, persuasion and conflict resolution in the development of the service and individuals. 26. Use Information Technology to communicate via email, social media, webinars, podcasts and to obtain and input data to systems. 27. Provide the training hub, ICB, NHSE - WTE with the information as required to use to ensure effective communication up to Board level eg. Plans, presentation, papers, reports. Professional Responsibilities: 28. To maintain registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) and pursue personal and professional development as required by the pharmacy profession, service responsibility and career progression. 29. Accountable for own professional actions acting in accordance with the GPhCs standards. 30. Work in a discreet and professional manner, maintaining confidentiality of patient and prescribing data and other data of a confidential nature acquired as part of the duties of the post. Report actual or potential problems that may put health, safety and security at risk and suggest how they might be addressed. 31.
